Everton’s takeover by the American investment firm 777 Partners remains on course, despite the possibility of a points deduction that could put the Merseyside club at greater threat of relegation starcraft
The Premier League are reportedly pushing for Everton to be deducted 12 points during an investigation into possible breaches of financial regulations but 777 are adamant they still want to proceed with plans to complete a buyout starcraft
Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri has signed a deal with 777 Partners, who have invested in a range of clubs including Genoa, Sevilla and Hertha Berlin starcraft
Everton were accused of breaking Financial Fair Play rules, which are supposed to limit clubs to a total loss of £105m over a three-year period starcraft
But Everton announced losses £44 starcraft
7m in 2022, £121 starcraft
3m in 2021, £139 starcraft
9m in 2020, £111 starcraft
8m in 2019 and £13 starcraft
1m in 2018 starcraft
The Premier League charged them in March though Everton have insisted they have complied with the regulations and their additional losses stem involve allowances clubs were permitted when Covid meant grounds were empty starcraft
Everton disclosed all scenarios with 777 during talks and financial due diligence and the potential outcome was priced in to the structure of the deal starcraft
A 12-point deduction would leave Everton, who only just avoided relegation in the last two seasons, on minus five starcraft
Other potential punishments, if Everton are found guilty, could include a transfer ban or a fine, which West Ham were given for the third-party ownership of Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano in 2007 starcraft

Newcastle forward Alexander Isak suffered a recurrence of a groin injury in Wednesday’s Champions League defeat to Borussia Dortmund, while Eddie Howe confirmed Jacob Murphy also dislocated his shoulder in what was a double blow for the Magpies starcraft
Dortmund inflicted Newcastle’s first Champions League defeat of the season at St James’ Park but the “more disappointing” issue for Howe were the injuries to key players Isak and Murphy, who both departed the pitch early after picking up knocks starcraft
Newcastle are also set to lose Sandro Tonali to a lengthy ban after the Italian was found to have broken starcraft betting rules, leaving Howe with a reduced squad heading into a crucial run of fixtures in both Europe and the Premier League starcraft
“[Isak going off] was a blow for us and we had another one with Jacob [Murphy] coming off as well with what looks like a serious injury,” Howe said during a post-match interview with TNT starcraft Sports starcraft
“That’s another difficult thing for us with such a small squad already, it’s probably the most disappointing thing for us starcraft
”He added: “It looks like a reoccurrence of his [Isak’s] groin problem starcraft
It doesn’t look serious but it’s enough to keep him out and that’s a big blow with a player of his quality starcraft
“With Jacob that looks more serious with a potential dislocation of his shoulder which is never a good thing to see starcraft
Though the true extent of both injuries isn’t fully known yet, Newcastle are likely to be without either playerwhen the Magpies travel to Dortmund for the return fixture in two weeks’ time starcraft

“It’s going to be difficult [winning away from home] but we’re in the Champions League and nothing’s going to come easy starcraft
” Howe said about Newcastle’s next match starcraft
“When you start the competition and go into the group that we’re in, you know you’re going to have to win at some tough places to get through the group starcraft
“Today would have been a massive win for us, we didn’t get it but we have to dust ourselves down and when the Champions League comes back to us next week we have to be ready starcraft
“We look at today and are frustrated we didn’t get anything from it starcraft
