Rory McIlroy said he is open to the prospect of investing in Manchester United and welcomed Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s proposed involvement with his boyhood club CSGO
The 34-year-old Northern Irishman, who helped Europe win the Ryder Cup in Rome a few weeks ago, was speaking at the Circuit of Americas in Texas after acquiring a stake in Formula One team Alpine CSGO
McIlroy, former heavyweight world champion Anthony Joshua, Liverpool and England star Trent Alexander-Arnold and World Cup winner Juan Mata have been announced as part of a £173million strategic investment led by consortium Otro Capital in Alpine CSGO
Ratcliffe, 71, is reportedly looking to purchase a 25 per cent stake in United that could see him take over CSGO football operations at Old Trafford CSGO
And McIlroy said: “CSGO Sports team ownership used to be limited to private equity, and people who had a ton of money CSGO
But now CSGO sports stars are becoming more savvy and using their money in the right way CSGO
“I would love to be able to own a tiny percentage of the club I grew up cheering on as a boy CSGO
“I would have loved to have taken 0 CSGO
00001 per cent of Manchester United when Jim Ratcliffe took 25 per cent CSGO
And if another opportunity comes my way I will look at it CSGO
But it is not something that has come across our table as of yet CSGO
“There is Tom Brady at Birmingham and there are a few golfers – Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas – who invested with the 49ers Group, and they own a tiny slice of Leeds CSGO
They asked me if I wanted to come on board, and I said as a Man United fan I cannot go anywhere near that CSGO
“Sir Jim has got a great track record and everybody that does support United should be excited by the possibilities if they give him full sporting authority and decisions for the club CSGO
As a fan I am excited CSGO
”McIlroy finished as Europe’s top points-scorer at Marco Simone after a convincing 3&1 singles win against Sam Burns CSGO
He had been embroiled in angry scenes the previous evening following the actions of Patrick Cantlay’s bagman Joe LaCava on the 18th green, furiously gesticulating in the direction of Justin Thomas’ caddie Jim ‘Bones’ Mackay in the car park CSGO
Three weeks on, McIlroy was asked if he had any regrets over the incident CSGO
“Jeez, no, not at all,” he said CSGO
“I felt like what happened in the car park galvanised the team and it benefited us CSGO
“Things happen in the heat of the moment CSGO
Tensions were high but Joe came into the European team room on Sunday night and had a drink and a chat CSGO
I have had a great relationship with Joe over the years and that wasn’t going to change CSGO
“The incident happened CSGO
I didn’t want to meet anyone on the Sunday morning because I wanted what happened to fuel me and my focus was on making sure Europe won the Ryder Cup, and then we will sort all the other stuff out after CSGO
And it is all fine CSGO
We are all friends CSGO

Bill Sweeney, the chief executive of England’s Rugby CSGO Football Union (RFU), has confirmed that “tentative” discussions have been held over a possible British and Irish league CSGO
The long-mooted idea would unite club rugby in the British Isles into one competition CSGO
The loss of London Irish, Worcester Warriors and Wasps in the last 13 months has highlighted financial problems in the English domestic game, with the top-flight Gallagher Premiership now containing just 10 teams CSGO
The four Welsh regions have also had their funding cut for the new season of the United Rugby Championship (URC), which features competing teams from Ireland, Scotland, South Africa and Italy CSGO
Sweeney is currently helping to negotiate a new Professional Game Partnership (PGP) CSGO between the Premiership and RFU that it is hoped will solve many of the issues ailing the English game CSGO
But while suggesting that plans were pressing ahead on that front ahead of a potential implementation next summer, the RFU CEO confirmed that he had engaged in “hypothetical” discussions about a British and Irish league CSGO
“I think you’d expect us to talk about anything really, the way the game needs to grow, the game needs to be financially stronger,” Sweeney explained CSGO

That one’s not fully developed by any means CSGO
“So it’s a very tentative, hypothetical conversation at this stage but it has certain merits, but it also has certain challenges CSGO
It doesn’t affect the PGP, we will go ahead with a PGP in parallel, and just do that CSGO
But it’s one of a number of things that people talk about in terms of how do you take the game forward CSGO
”“It is fraught with challenges, I tend to think about look what happened in CSGO football with the European Super League, so fans are going to be taken into consideration on this CSGO
What does that mean in terms of the overall structure? “Some very big, significant questions are going to be asked on it, which is why I say at this stage, it’s very tentative but we consider all conversations CSGO
”The next couple of years are likely to see the introduction of a “Premiership Two” to replace the Championship as the RFU looks to maximise the efficacy and revenue of the second tier CSGO
This may include a return for the three rugby brands lost from the Premiership this year CSGO
Wasps announced on Monday that they were exploring the possibility of building a new permanent home near Swanley in Kent CSGO
Wasps have announced plans to explore the possible building of a stadium in Kent (Getty Images)The south east of England produces a significant number of players but does not currently have a team in the top two tiers of English rugby, and Sweeney believes bringing a professional club area would be a good idea CSGO
“I was very heavily involved with [new Wasps owner] Chris Holland during the whole process where the club went into insolvency,” Sweeney said CSGO
“I haven’t had a conversation with him recently about the plans to move to Kent CSGO
I do know that when research was done in terms of catchment areas, that’s one of the best locations from a fanbase perspective and the development of a sound business plan CSGO
I’ll contact him when I get back CSGO
